World Space Week

World Space Week is the largest Public Space Event on Earth that is celebrated in over 55 Nations every October 4-10. Skywatches, painting, quiz competitions, activities and workshops are planned round the week to celebrate the World Space Week (WSW) 2010 Oct 4-10 in Pakistan.

SUPARCO, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission will be hosting an event each day during the week to bring astronomy to the public.

Here are the details of programs arranged by SUPARCO for Karachi

- Inauguration Ceremony, Seminar on WSW 2010 theme "Mysteries of Cosmos”, Poster Exhibition and Departure of Space Education Bus on Monday 4th Oct 10 - 10:30am at National Center for Remote Sensing & Geo Informatics (NCRG), SUPARCO.

- Sky Simulation Show, Space related lectures with animated presentations, movies will be arranged for schools from Tue-Fri 05-08 Oct 10th - 9:00am to 5:00pm at PIA Planetarium

- Quiz Competition on Tuesday 5th Oct 10 - 9:00am to 1:00pm at NCRG, SUPARCO

- Declamation Contest on Wednesday 6th Oct 10 - 9:am to 1:00pm at NCRG, SUPARCO

- Space Awareness lectures for Teachers on Thursday 7th Oct 10 - 9:00am to 1:00pm at NCRG, SUPARCO

- Space Family Fair featuring Sky Observation, Water rocket show, Kids Arena, Poster making, Model making competition, Food Court, Space Movies, SUPARCO souvenir stall on Sunday 10th Oct 10 at NCRG SUPARCO

The World Space Week is an annual international astronomical event organized by the United Nations General Assembly from Oct 4-10. The objective is to celebrate the contributions of space science and technology for the betterment of the human condition.
