“We have been accused of doing a number of serious plays and classics so this time keeping the public demand in mind, we aim to bring a hilarious comedy on stage,” Rahat Kazmi said while addressing a press conference at NAPA premises.
The play comprises of 10 characters, all of which are trying to stage a play and with time the play keeps turning into a comedy of errors as the rehearsal period of the play keeps on delaying and eventually the play within a play ends up as a disaster.
“I don’t guarantee that the audience will fall from their seats while laughing but I am sure they will surely enjoy,” Rahat Kazmi said.
He further added that people have been complaining about high priced ticket for NAPA play, after which the organisers have reduced the ticket price to Rs 600 and Rs 300 for students.
“As it is a play within a play, the production design of the play was a major task and the over all look of the stage had to be manoeuvred in such a way that we get a stage where play will be performed which could accommodate audience part of the play itself and those who are coming to watch the show,” Kazmi elaborated.
The set designer of the play who is also the part of the cast, Tanveer Abbas believes that the set for the play would one of its kind because it is very difficult to achieve something with such a complex production design.
Arshad Mehmud, the Director programmes told The News that reducing the price of the ticket is an experiment. “If we get better audiences we will carry on the same price. If not, we will come back to our original price because for some odd reason our most sold out play was “Beech Bahar Ki Raat Ka Sapna” which was priced at Rs 1000 per ticket,” Mehmud
