Changing Karachi, What Changed and What Not.

I just come across to this very nice blog published on 3quarksdaily.com about things in Karachi which have changed and the things which hadn't. Written by Syed Abbas Raza who is one of the editors of 3QuarksDaily, where he published a more elaborative version of this post with pictures.

Syed Abbas Raza, who is spending his summers in Karachi, in the city of his birth after six years. He is here for over three weeks now! And, here are some of the things which he has picked arbitrarily about the things in Karachi which hadn't changed. These are of course his personal impressions.

1- The Sound of Rickshaws
2-The heat and the humidity
3-The Food
4-The Sunshine
5-The Traffic

Some things, of course, are different from before. And they are different mostly in a bad way:

1-The media; and its role in demotion of Pakistan
2-Religiosity; more men in beard and women in scarf then they were before
3-Hypocrisy; corruption, dishonesty, and crime of every sort seem to be skyrocketing.
4-Shrinking Civility: There has been an undeniable shrinkage of civility and simple good manners in society as a whole.
5-Everyone is Richer: The increase in wealth is visible across pretty much all classes.

That's all for now, folks!
