Cyclone Warning for Karachi

Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that a strong weather system in the Central Arabian Sea has evolved into a super tropical cyclone that which will hit the city within next 48 hours. The sea storm is gaining intensity and is some 900 kilometers away from the coastal area.

Talking about the situation, Chief Meteorologist in Karachi, Mohammad Riaz said that a tropical cyclone in the Arabian Sea could cause landfall in both the coastal areas of Pakistan and India. “In either case, the resultant meteorological changes would bring gusty winds and heavy rains in Karachi,” he said.

Section 144 is imposed in Karachi which prohibits people from visiting and swimming in the sea.
